Encounter

Archaeological Dig Site

Following the first Qumran Cave scroll discovery, archaeologists and Bedouin treasure hunters raced to the caves to excavate the area encountering over 800 scrolls in multiple caves. Ironically, Bedouin treasure hunters discoverd the majority of the scrolls in poor condition due to their containment in dirt for thousands of years. Additionally, a small village shown above was unearthed in the discovery.
